Four days to go

Wow, time is going by quickly now. I seem to have a crazy number of things to get done in the next 4 days before I leave for Shanghai: projects to finish, e-mails to write, goodbyes to wish. We celebrated early Halloween today at the Schoolhouse with costumes and pumpkin carving which resulted in some great pictures (to be posted soon) and lots of fun but not a great deal of office work.
We're having a goodbye/welcome new interns BBQ at the bosses' house tomorrow night and then a practice Thanksgiving dinner on Monday so I'm not about to get any excess free time. It's crazy to think of all the things I planned on doing while I was here and never got around to...applying for jobs, reading more, relaxing at night, visiting different parts of the wall...I suppose I just did different things instead.
On a different note, what is it about Chinese cooks getting their nationalities mixed up? I found bacon sushi at a street stall and Greek chicken (or what they called Greek chicken but was actually breaded chicken with wasabi) at Happy Valley???
Tana has finally given me 50 or so Chinese songs to take home with me so I can continue to listen to Chinese language and hopefully absorb some Chinese through osmosis. I'm thinking about taking some more Chinese classes when I get home. Anyone interested in joining?
Hopefully I will get to blog at least once more before I go, but if not I will for sure while travelling around with my Dad. I can't wait to see him and return home at some point, but I will be very sad to leave all the people here...I've made some great friends and Chinese people are just so awesome and welcoming!

  1. It's hard for me to believe that your great adventure is drawing to a close. What a voyage it has been, in every sense of the word.
Enjoy your final days in the villages with your wonderful friends.
