Lijiang

We checked out of our hostel in Dali early this morning and took a car to the bus to Lijiang and then a taxi to our hotel. We made the whole trip quite easily, enjoyed an atypical lunch comprised of a real baguette and mozzarella that we picked up yesterday and even met a Montrealer.

We relaxed for a little while at the hostel (once again very nice) before heading out to wander through the streets of old Lijiang. It felt quite touristy with all the stalls and street vendors but there were some interesting knickknacks and cultural handicrafts we hadn't seen before. We picked up some tea and street food and took lots of pictures.

After a few hours we headed back to our room for a nap and then went back out for dumplings and noodles for dinner.

We are heading off trekking in the Tiger Leaping Gorge tomorrow so we asked the person working at the reception here where we could find a grocery store, but either she didn't understand or there isn't one because she insisted we could get enough food at the corner store nearby. So, we are all packed to go at 7:30 tomorrow morning and laden with lots of snack food.

We're staying in the gorge for a night so I won't be blogging tomorrow, but I should have some great pictures up the next day!
